This has been the rumor in the past couple of days… A thread on poker forum Two Plus Two claims that PokerStars reached an agreement with the US Department of Justice (DOJ) to purchase Full Tilt Poker for $750 million, which includes the $330 million to pay back all players.
According to the source, who created the thread, FTP players will receive a 100% refund from their FTP accounts. It seems that both sites will remain online, have separate promotions and that all staff will be kept on. Still this story has yet to be confirmed. Eric Hollreiser, Head of Corporate Communications, PokerStars “As such settlement discussions are always confidential, we are unable to comment on rumors. As soon as we have information to share publicly we will do so.“
Update: Contrary to reports that Groupe Bernard Tapie bought Full Tilt, EGR has reported that the purchase has not come to fruition. Groupe Bernard Tapie has released a statement saying that it has not purchased Full Tilt Poker because of ”unresolvable” legal complications and failure to agree on player repayment plan.
